Anu Organics Wild Eyebright 120 caps
Certified organic whole herb for hayfever, conjunctivitis, sinusitis
Member of the Scrophulariaceae family, the aerial parts are harvested during the flowering season. The annual plant is semi-parasitic on grasses and therefore difficult to cultivate, but can be wild harvested from poor meadowlands. The plant has erect stems 15-35 cm , which often are wavily curved at the base. The leaves are oval in shape, fringed and have a purple or bronze tinge, and borne alternately. The flowers are borne in spike-like racemes. The flowers are bisexual and irregular. The calyx and corolla have 5 lobes, and the flowers have two lips, similar to those of the Labiatae, the upper with 2 lobes and the lower with 3. The petals are clear white, with lilac or red veins and a yellow spot on the lower lipped . Some authors say that they resemble a bloodshot eye There are 2 or 4 stamens inserted into the corolla and the ovary is superior, with 2 compartments and one style. The ovary develops into a capsule containing many seeds. The name Euphrasia is from the Greek Euphrosyne (meaning gladness), one of the Graces.
