About Immunox

Immunox is an advanced multi-strain probiotic and antioxidant blend developed to support the body’s resistance to infection and promote a healthy immune system.

Immunox is recommended for people who lead active, demanding lifestyles and for those with weaker immune responses (e.g. people who catch every cold going round, the elderly etc.)

The varied types (strains) of friendly bacteria in Immunox ensure the intestinal lining throughout the gut is well colonised with a healthy coating of friendly bacteria. A strong intestinal lining bars contaminants and harmful bacteria from entering into the bloodstream. A rich probiotic balance also supports immune cells in the intestinal walls to help limit the growth of pathogenic organisms.

The antioxidants in Immunox are a unique and balanced combination of essential antioxidants as well as other potent natural extracts with very powerful regenerating and free radical neutralising properties.

A unique synergy exists between the advanced antioxidants and probiotic blend in Immunox. A healthy probiotic balance enhances nutrient and mineral absorption in the intestines, thereby ensuring that the antioxidants are more efficiently absorbed into the bloodstream and can make their way to the cells and organs where they are needed most.

The effect of this synergy makes Immunox the best antioxidant formulation available.

How does Immunox work?

Antioxidants:
Extracts of Grape Seed, Pine Bark (pycnogenol), Curcumin and Green Tea in Immunox contain powerful, natural and hypoallergenic free radical scavengers and bioflavonoid complexes which are rapidly absorbed and distributed throughout the body. These antioxidants seek out the free radicals (chemicals produced from the breakdown of foods that can cause cell damage in the body) and neutralise them.

Grape Seed and Pine Bark extracts in Immunox are some of nature’s most powerful antioxidants. They contain oligomeric procyanidins (or OPCs) known for their properties in performing regenerative functions such as maintaining the structural strength of blood vessels and assisting in the healthy development of capillary walls. OPC’s have been studied to promote a variety of health benefits (e.g. support normal blood pressure and healthy blood vessels and veins).

Probiotics:
Lactobacillus acidophilus – among the most well researched and documented species of friendly bacteria naturally resident in the human gut. An ability to survive the gastric acids and bile salts expected at mealtimes and to reach the intestines without damage ensures that these health promoting bacteria colonise well in the gut where they support immune cells and create a healthy lactic acid environment that limits survival of harmful bacteria (e.g. Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Listeria monocytogenes).

Bifidobacteria strains:
Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium breve and Bifidobacterium infantis colonise primarily in the large intestine (or colon) where they play important roles in maintaining immunity. In this region they promote the production of antibodies and maintain resistance to infection from undesirable bacteria by competitively excluding their attachment to the intestinal walls. In addition, a healthy balance of bifidobacteria supports the intestines to assist transit and optimise a healthy frequency and regularity of bowel movements.

DTECTA guarantees 2.5 billion live micro-organisms per Immunox vegetarian capsule until the best before date.

Background Information

Did you know that each of us has around 100,000,000,000,000 bacteria in our intestines?

That is 10 times the number of cells in our body, and can weigh around 1.5 kg! This 'microflora' consists of both friendly probiotic bacteria and bad pathogenic bacteria that co-exist in a complex ecosystem. Having a healthy balance of probiotics over pathogens plays an important role in digestion and immunity.

Friendly bacteria support digestion in several capacities. A healthy balance of friendly bacteria in the intestines provides specific enzymes needed in the digestion of particular substances, produces B complex vitamins and vitamin K, and improves the absorption and uptake of minerals and nutrients in the diet.

A healthy balance of friendly bacteria also helps maintain overall immunity as up to two-thirds of the body’s immunity is managed in the intestines. Where there is a healthy balance of friendly bacteria in the intestines, acidity is high which hinders the growth and survival of bad bacteria, and enables the growth of friendly bacteria to multiply and exclude the bad bacteria.

However, the balance of bacteria in the gut is fragile and can easily be disrupted by everyday factors such as stress, ageing, medication (e.g. antibiotics), environment and diet.

Research has shown the benefits to digestion, health and immunity for people with a healthy balance of friendly bacteria. The unique synergy of advanced multi-strain probiotics and powerful antioxidants in Immunox makes it a potent formulation to promote a healthy immune system and help support the body against infection.
