Thrush test for women

A sample is collected by inserting the swab 2cm (1 inch) into the vagina for 20 seconds. The swab is then placed in the test device and 10 minutes later your result is ready - all in the privacy of your own home.

Thrush and Candida symptoms

Thrush can be easily confused with other conditions as the symptoms are common;

vaginal itching

soreness

vaginal discharge (although this is not always present) - it can be thin and watery, or thick and white, like cottage cheese and usually odourless

burning sensation that may increase during urination and sexual intercourse

Thrush is commonly caused by a fungal yeast called Candida albicans often triggered by; use of oral contraceptive pills, a diaphragm and spermicide, women who are diabetic or pregnant, use of antibiotics, reduction in vaginal healthy bacteria or a weakened immune system.
