Parsley seed oil is steam distilled from the seeds of this common herb. An essential oil is also extracted from the leaves of the plant but this has a far higher myristicin content and is considered toxic. Parsley Seed oil has a sweet, warm, herbaceous aroma that blends well with Clary Sage, Fennel, Ho Wood and Ylang Ylang. The herb is prized for its high nutrition value and also for freshening the breath. As with all culinary herbs, it is reputed to aid digestion and stimulate the appetite. Parsley is also known as a diuretic and the essential oil may be a useful addition to massage blends to improve cellulite. Try blending 2 drops of Parsley Seed oil, 1 drop of Cypress and 1 drop of Lemon with 10ml of Coconut oil – massage vigorously into affected areas. For a deeply refreshing aroma, try 2 drops of Parsley Seed oil with 1 drop of Clary Sage and 2 drops of Bergamot in a burner or diffuser.
