Directions for use:
Rub into the affected areas several times a day or as required until absorbed.
For external application only. Not suitable for small children. Avoid contact with eyes or broken skin. Do not use underneath air-tight compresses.
The products in the Pernaton range contain original PERNA extract which is a source of high grade Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), of which Glucosamine is a precursor. It also contains small amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids, minerals and 18 vital L-amino acids.
Why is Perna extract so special and where does it come from?
PERNA extract is produced from the New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel (Perna Canaliculus) which is grown in state controlled areas in the South Pacific waters around New Zealand (one of the cleanest waters on earth). The colonization of the larva and the re-settlement into the mussel farms is done under the finest conditions. Independent scientific laboratories establish the ideal moment the mussels are harvested, (when the mussel is ripest) to ensure optimal effectiveness. The extract is then taken out by either centrifugal means or a pressure system, but in both cases it is derived by physical means and without the use of solvents. It is frozen slowly over a period of at least 16 hours, then freeze dried using a special patented process guaranteeing the highest quality available. It is important to note that there is a significant difference between a mussel extract and a simple mussel powder. The powder is produced from the flesh of frozen mussels and because heat is used to remove the flesh from the shell, the anti-inflammatory properties have been shown to be significantly reduced.
What is the function of Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs)?
Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are natural substances found in the connective tissue of ligaments and joint cartilages. They help to preserve the connective tissue in the body as well as improve its regeneration process, joint cartilages included. The Green Lipped Mussel, along with any organism living in the sea has connective tissue that is rich in GAGs, and this has been scientifically tested, and shown to improve the elasticity and firmness of the skin as well as making it feel softer and silkier.
