DESCRIPTION
Seleno-L-methionine consists of the amino acid L-methionine in which a sulphur atom is replaced by a selenium atom. Selenomethionine is not the same as methionine-chelated selenium. Selenium forms one molecule together with methionine and in its entirety it is built into bodily protein. This benefits the bioavailability. The absorption of selenomethionine from the duodenum is almost 100%.

Selenium is a part of four enzymes that belong to the glutathione-peroxidase antioxidant system. Selenium is also part of the liver-cleansing cytochrome-P450-enzyme system. In addition, selenium is the enzyme that converts the thyroid hormone T4 (thyroxine) into its active form T3 (triiodothyroxine).

A good selenium status is also important for the immune system, especially with regard to the functioning of macrophages.

USAGE
Take 1 capsule a day, during or immediately after a meal. Selenium is also included in other food supplements. Capsule may be opened if experiencing difficulties with swallowing.
